number of civilizations in the Milky Way
Priority request: Yes, life is intrinsic to the universe, nonetheless I'm curious if there are other civilizations out there or if humanity "is alone".
Other than the Earth, scientific estimates of "potentially habitable" planets in our galaxy range from 300 million to one, and that one (Kepler-442b) is 1,120 light years away in the constellation of Lyra.
